Overview

Ewell Castle Prep School approached us with a vision for two meaningful outdoor spaces- a play structure and reading space to honour a much-loved teacher. We have designed a Scramble Stack Play Area to support physical development and a Memorial Reading Garden- offering a calm place for reading, reflection, and wellbeing.

Design & Features

We crafted a bespoke timber scramble stack designed to encourage active, open-ended play, with a strong focus on natural aesthetics and physical development. With a focus on quiet reflection and learning in nature, the reading garden was designed to foster literacy. We enhanced the space by:

Scramble Stack Playground

Safe and challenging outdoor activities supporting balance, movement and gross motor development.

Memorial Reading Garden

A calming setting designed to foster literacy, learning in nature and connection focused on quiet reflection. Eco-conscious layout support wildlife and biodiversity.

Raised timber planters

With pollinator-friendly plants create natural seating for group and solo reading moments.

Outdoor library

Stocked with books to promote literacy in a calming setting.

We retained some of the original features, including the archway and rear shelter. Eco-conscious layout to supports wildlife and biodiversity, creating a true nature-based educational environment.
