What makes Precision Timber different from other companies?
Precision Timber is a family-run business with former teachers within the team, giving us a first-hand understanding of how children use spaces for play, learning, exploration, and development. Our aim is to create safe, durable, and imaginative spaces for those using them, as well as making them distinctive and memorable.
We manage design, product development, manufacturing, and installation in-house, giving us greater control over quality and flexibility to create genuinely bespoke solutions. We work across both indoor and outdoor environments and can develop our own concepts to meet your unique requirements. Rather than relying on a fixed catalogue, we can adapt equipment, materials, dimensions, and finishes to suit your space, budget, and brief.

What factors affect the cost of a project?
The cost of a project depends on several factors, including the size and condition of the site, the type and quantity of equipment, bespoke design requirements, materials, surfacing, ground preparation, access, installation, and delivery. Timescales, site specific requirements, and whether the project is completed in one stage or phased over time can also influence the overall cost.
We provide a clear quotation based on the agreed scope, with any exclusions, assumptions, or optional items identified from the outset. The more information we have about your site, budget, and requirements from the outset, the more accurately we can design and cost your project.
We also encourage clients to consider long term value alongside the initial price, including durability, installation quality, maintenance requirements, and expected lifespan.

Can you deliver projects within a set budget?
Yes, we can deliver projects within a set budget!
Having a clear budget from the outset helps us recommend the most appropriate design, equipment, and project scope for your space. We will explain what can realistically be achieved within the available budget and help you prioritise the elements with the greatest value, without compromising quality, play value, or long-term durability.
If the full vision cannot be delivered at once, we can explore alternative specifications or create a phased approach, allowing the space to develop over time while protecting the overall design and future plans.

How do I choose the right equipment?
The right equipment should reflect what you want to achieve, who will use the space, the area available, and your budget.
Our team will help you prioritise the elements that offer the greatest value for your space, rather than simply filling it with equipment. Where appropriate, we can also develop a phased approach so the environment can grow and develop over time.
Our projects begin by understanding the age range, number of users, existing provision, and how the space needs to function. We then consider opportunities for physical development, imaginative play, sensory exploration, social interaction, problem solving, and quieter activities.

How do you ensure your playground equipment is safe for children?
Safety is considered throughout every stage of our design, manufacturing, and installation process.
All of our equipment is designed and handcrafted in accordance with BS EN 1176 and BS EN 1177 safety standards, with consideration given to fall heights, access, entrapment risks, spacing, structural integrity, and appropriate surfacing. Our team holds operational playground inspection certification, helping us assess equipment and play spaces with safety, compliance, and ongoing use in mind.
Following installation, we include an annual inspection to assess the equipment once it has been in use. We can then provide continued inspections and maintenance through our ongoing maintenance programme.
Does Precision Timber offer free site visits and designs?
Yes, we offer free site visits and bespoke designs to make the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Our team will visit your location to take measurements, assess the space, and discuss your ideas in detail. From there, our creative designers will craft a personalised design that suits your needs, space, and budget.

Does Precision Timber do on-site installations?
Yes, we do site installations!
We are proud to handle every aspect of the process ourselves, from in house manufacture to on-site installation. This allows us to maintain full control over every project, so we can ensure our craftsmanship, quality, and lead times meet the high standards we promise our clients.

How do we maintain our equipment and outdoor space?
Regular inspection and maintenance help protect the safety, appearance, and lifespan of your equipment and outdoor space. We recommend routine visual checks alongside more detailed operational and annual inspections to identify wear, damage, or anything that may affect safe use.
As timber is a natural material, movement, surface checking, and changes in colour can occur over time as it responds to weather conditions. These are not necessarily signs of structural failure, but any concerns should always be assessed.
Maintenance requirements vary depending on the equipment, materials, surfacing, and level of use. We can provide ongoing inspections and maintenance through our maintenance programme, helping clients keep their spaces safe, well maintained, and performing as intended.
Does Precision Timber offer site maintenance?
Yes, we offer site maintenance!
Whether your playground or outdoor space was installed by Precision Timber or another company, we are here to help. We offer a range of tailored maintenance and inspection packages to suit your needs, ensuring your equipment remains safe, functional, and compliant with all safety standards.

What warranty is included with your equipment?
Our equipment is supplied with comprehensive warranty cover, with the period depending on the materials and products specified. For example, our robinia timber carries a 25-year warranty, while selected timber products carry up to a 15-year warranty.
As warranty terms vary depending on the specification and components used, full details are provided with your project documentation and can also be requested from our team at any stage.
We are happy to explain the relevant warranty cover for your project before you proceed, so you have a clear understanding of what is included.
Do you work on tendered projects?
Yes, we do work on tendered projects!
We support projects delivered through formal tender and procurement processes, working with schools, trusts, local authorities, architects, contractors, and other organisations.
Because our design and manufacturing are managed in-house, we have the flexibility to work to detailed specifications, adapt designs where required, and develop bespoke solutions around a brief. Depending on the tender requirements, we can provide design proposals, product specifications, itemised pricing, drawings, project programmes, and relevant supporting company documentation.
Where possible, we recommend early engagement so we can review the requirements, identify potential challenges, and ensure the proposed design, budget, and delivery programme are realistic from the outset.
Can we pay by invoice?
Yes, you can pay by invoice!
We offer the option to pay by invoice for your convenience. To do this, email us your order list and we'll send an invoice directly to you.

What materials does Precision Timber use?
We select materials to suit the individual project, site conditions, and any other client requirements.
For outdoor projects, we commonly use robinia timber due to its strength, natural durability, and high resistance to decay. Where specified and available, we source FSC certified timber to support responsible forest management. We also use pressure treated or tanalised timber where appropriate, alongside durable stainless steel or galvanised fixings.
Because we manage design and manufacturing in-house, we can adapt materials, dimensions, and finishes to suit your space, specification, and budget rather than being restricted to a fixed product range.
