Precision Playgrounds & Attractions Visits Autism Allotments: Supporting an Inclusive Sensory Space
Precision Playgrounds & Attractions visited Autism Allotments in Thurnscoe, a volunteer-led sensory garden supporting neurodivergent individuals and people with diverse needs, to deliver a custom sensory board. The initiative promotes inclusion, sensory engagement and wellbeing through accessible outdoor spaces designed to support personal development, community connection, and meaningful experiences for all.
At Precision, we are passionate about creating inclusive outdoor play experiences that bring joy, connection, and development to all children. That’s why we were honoured to visit Autism Allotments, a fantastic community sensory garden in Thurnscoe, South Yorkshire, created by Paul and Michael Atwal-Brice.
Autism Allotments is a volunteer-led community group dedicated to providing a safe and supportive space for autistic children, young people, and adults to learn, explore, and grow together. The allotment also welcomes individuals with disabilities and additional needs, making it an inclusive environment where everyone belongs. This inspiring project helps create a calm, sensory-rich space where individuals can connect with nature, develop life skills, and experience the therapeutic benefits of outdoor play
As part of our commitment to giving back to the community, we worked closely with Autism Allotment to create a bespoke sensory board tailored to their needs. The feedback has been incredible! Seeing how much joy and engagement the sensory board has brought to the children and families at Autism Allotments has been truly heartwarming. This vibrant, interactive product was designed to provide sensory stimulation while promoting physical development, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills. Sensory board features:
Encouraging problem-solving and movement coordination
Stimulating auditory senses and creative expression
Enhancing motor control and strength
Developing focus, patience, and fine motor skills
Providing visual stimulation and a fun, welcoming design
During our visit, we were deeply moved by Michael and Paul’s dedication to creating a space where individuals with autism and additional needs can thrive. Their hard work, passion, and commitment to inclusivity inspired us, and we are grateful to contribute to such a meaningful cause.
