Overview
We partnered with Stradbroke Primary School to support two distinct goals: to inject more physical challenge into their playtimes and to provide high-quality shelter that would allow learning to happen outdoors, whatever the weather. We utilised the school’s natural footprint to create a flow of activity that moves from physical exertion to quiet reflection. We also designed a multi-zone solution that balances high-energy agility with peaceful, sheltered spots for literacy and socialising. The result is a school ground that works harder for its pupils. Children can now navigate a challenging agility course before retreating to the Ryedale pod for a quiet story, or head to the outdoor classroom for a hands-on science lesson.
“The quality of the materials and the work is excellent, as is the preparatory designs and drawings. The conduct, demeanour, and manner of the guys who carried out the work were very professional, friendly, and appropriate for a school setting. When on site, they were flexible and cognizant of the daily business of a primary school, which is appreciated by staff. The fact that designs are open to change and can be adapted on site is great, as it allows us to modify the design to suit the land or the nuances of the terrain.”
John Stitch, Headteacher, Stradbroke Primary School
The story of Stradbroke Primary is one of trust built over time. We don’t just deliver a catalogue of parts; we listen to the “rhythm” of the school day. Schools trust us because they know we are flexible enough to change a design on-site if the land demands it, and professional enough to work seamlessly alongside their staff. We take pride in being more than just builders – we are craftsmen who care about the legacy we leave behind in every playground.
