Project
Bespoke Robinia Butterfly-Shaped Viewpoint Shelter & Sensory Installation
Overview
Forestry England approached us with a sensitive and highly specific brief: to replace an aging viewpoint shelter at Haldon Forest that had reached the end of its operational lifespan. The replacement structure needed to serve as an informal, celebratory nod to the site’s heritage through natural play. The core objective was to deliver a fully inclusive, multi-sensory environment that could withstand the micro-climate of an exposed hillside while accommodating visitors of all ages and physical abilities.
“Precision Timber has delivered a stunning addition to Haldon Forest. They respected the delicate history of the site while bringing a forward-thinking, inclusive vision to life. The engineering is flawless, handling our hillside wind restrictions beautifully, and the subtle butterfly theme offers a perfect, uplifting nod to the past. It has immediately become a favourite stopping point for all our trail visitors.”
Forestry England Site Management Team
The Haldon Forest project represents our capacity to execute high-profile commercial and public sector contracts with clinical precision. Organisations like Forestry England trust us because we do not treat accessibility or regulatory compliance as an afterthought-we anchor them into the blueprint of our designs. By combining craftsmanship with rigorous structural load analysis and certified safety metrics, we transform complex public briefs into durable, captivating architectural landmarks. Whether engineering a multi-zone urban school playground or a rugged forest viewpoint shelter, we build commercial timber installations that honour the environment, stimulate communities, and endure for decades.
